The social group that we chose to represent in our film opening are middle class British young adults/older teenagers. This representation can be seen through the main character who is a 19 year old British male who the sequence centres around. For our character we were heavily inspired by Rami Malek, the main character from Mr.Robot and Alex Rider, the main character from the Stormbreaker novels and films. These spoke out to us as they are young adult/older teens who were extremely skilled and gave the Target Audience something to aspire to
The social group we have chosen will be represented in a positive light. One of the representations will be smart and intelligent. In one of the very first shots we see the main character hacking in his bedroom. Hacking, contrary to popular belief, is extremely hard and requires extensive knowledge on coding, programming and servers thus representing our social group as extremely intelligent. Since this is all taking place in his bedroom it anchors the character down and makes them more relatable to the target audience as a bedroom is a very familiar environment. Other familiar environments will include the streets of london when the hacker is walking around adding to the familiarity of the opening.
The main character will also conform to the usual stereotype of young adults being quite rebellious and getting into trouble. This also adds to the relatablity of the character as well as the sequence as a whole.
